Three simple steps

How to Look Up an IP Address Online

No command line and no installation, the lookup runs in your browser.

1

Enter an address

Type an IPv4 address, an IPv6 address or a domain name, or leave the field empty to check your own public IP.

2

Run the lookup

Select Look Up. A domain is resolved to an IPv4 address through DNS before the geolocation lookup runs.

3

Read the result

Review the location, organization, ASN, coordinates, time zone and currency returned for the address.

Everything a Quick IP Lookup Should Show

One field, one click, and the details that matter for debugging, support tickets and log analysis.

Location details

See city, region, country, postal code and approximate coordinates for the address you query.

Organization and ASN

Identify the network that announces the address, including the autonomous system number where available.

Time zone and currency

Check the local time zone, currency and language associated with the address, useful for support work.

Backup service

If the primary geolocation service fails or is blocked, the lookup automatically retries against a second service.

Understanding the result

How Accurate Is IP Geolocation?

An address tells you where the network is, not always where the person is.

Address type Typical accuracy What to expect
Home broadband City level Usually the city or region of the ISP's local point of presence.
Mobile network Region level Often the region where the carrier routes traffic, not the device location.
VPN or proxy Exit location Shows the VPN exit point, which can be in another country entirely.
Private or loopback No public data Addresses such as 10.x, 192.168.x or 127.0.0.1 have no public geolocation.

Privacy: only the address you type is sent to the public lookup services. Nothing else from this page is uploaded, and no lookup history is stored on the 73hi server.

Questions and answers

IP Address Lookup FAQ

Is the IP address lookup free?

Yes. You can look up as many addresses as you need for free with no signup and no daily limit.

How do I see my own public IP address?

Leave the input empty and select Look Up. The tool reads your public address from a public IP service and immediately looks up its details.

Can I look up a domain name instead of an IP?

Yes. The domain is resolved to an IPv4 address with Google DNS first, then the resulting address is used for the geolocation lookup.

How accurate is IP geolocation?

IP geolocation is usually accurate at the city or region level. Mobile networks, VPNs, proxies and corporate NAT can place the address in a different location than the device using it.

Why does a lookup return no information?

Private, loopback and reserved addresses have no public geolocation data. A domain without an IPv4 record, a network that blocks lookup requests, or a temporary outage at the lookup service can also produce no result.

Which lookup services are used?

The tool queries ipapi.co first and falls back to ipwho.is. Domains are resolved with Google DNS, and your own public address is read from ipify.
