Scanning reliability
What Makes a QR Code Easy to Scan?
A QR code keeps working even when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered, because every code carries error correction data.
Error correction levels
Level L recovers about 7% of the code, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. Higher levels produce a slightly denser code but tolerate far more damage.
Logos inside the code
A centre logo covers real data modules. Keep it under roughly 25% of the width and use level Q or H so the scanner can rebuild the hidden part.
Colour and contrast
Scanners read contrast, not hue. A dark pattern on a light background works; a light pattern on a dark background usually fails. Avoid low-contrast pairs.
Size and quiet zone
The generator adds the four-module quiet margin the standard requires. Print the code large enough that the smallest module is legible at the expected scanning distance.

Will a coloured QR code still scan?
Yes, as long as the pattern stays clearly darker than the background. Scanners measure contrast rather than colour, so a dark blue or dark green pattern works as well as black.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. A QR code stores the text itself, so it keeps working forever. It is not a short link and does not depend on this site staying online.
Are my URLs uploaded to a server?
No. The QR encoding and the PNG rendering both run locally in JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you type and no image you upload is sent anywhere.
How much text can a QR code hold?
A URL, a paragraph or a short vCard is no problem. At the largest size and lowest error correction level a code can hold a little under 3,000 bytes. The tool tells you when the text no longer fits.
What format is the download?
A PNG file at the size you selected. PNG is lossless, keeps the modules crisp, and supports the transparent background option.
